The Worst Sin Ever
So you want to offer a “Resources” or "Helpful Links" page on your website? Great.  But a site visitor is more valuable to you than anything else on the Internet, so why - for the love of all that is right and good - would you send visitors away to someone else’s website? There's a right way to do Resources.
Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? Our Site Already Looks FANTASTIC!
The top 1000 revenue-generating business sites on the Internet are some of the butt-ugliest sites ever seen by mankind.  MOST of the "fancy" sites we see have not a single bit of traffic. So spend all the time you want on Flash intros, cool animation, graphics created in state-of-the-art software, and every other bell and whistle. While your site is showing off how pretty it is, the ugly sites will continue to seduce your clients and potential clients by FILLING NEEDS and providing useful information with help, learning, resources, and functions. So just what does the good-looking website do for your business?

This site looks good but gets very few visits. So what's the point if traffic is low or non-existent?

Fingers in your ears
Your receptionist tells you, "the phone rang today" and you don't bother to ask for the messages. Your Suggestion Box is overflowing with feedback from customers and potential customers, but you've never looked at the comments. This is, in essence, the same as not reviewing your Site Usage Statics, and it makes absolutely no sense for your business.

About Us And More About Us!
A picture - a sample, an example, a demo, a how-to - is worth a thousand words. So put away those verbose online descriptions of your business. Think people will call you after they read your impressively worded About Us page - your mission statement, vision, values, principles, bios, goals, and methodologies? Think again.

Blowing your own horn won't help your website drive the $$$ to your business

Where did MDA Consulting go wrong?

  • Every page is an "About Us" page, almost like a resumé, over and over.
  • The volumes (and volumes) of text are not conducive to the "skim and scan" habits of Internet users. They won't even read all that.
  • The site is a brochure site with nothing interactive that involves the visitor nor provides powerful sales leads that make a business website successful.
  • There are no supporting facts and figures to support the we-know-we're-good information given to visitors. Internet visitors need to be convinced by content other than just their word.
  • Lots of industry speak - geek speak - meant to impress actually goes over most visitors' heads and may be marginalizing some visitors' potential interest in MDA.

         How MDA should be thinking:

  • Interactives such as self-assessments (which always show a potential client that a company's services are needed), quizzes, surveys, and most importantly, Do-It-Yourself applications not only provide extremely strong sales leads to MDA - leads that show up in their Inbox - but they also help MDA to Show-And-Prove, right from the site itself, that they know what they are doing .
  • It takes a web visitor an average of 4 site visits before they will make a purchase or contact a company. If content is never refreshed and updated, what encourages a 2nd visit?
  • Supporting facts and figures help to back up the suggestion that they are good at what they do - i.e. - "click here to see how we grew ABC Company's client base by 25%."
  • All powerful tools and resources should be available from the homepage to facilitate that 7 second window to impress.
